The Gospel
I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation for all who believe (Romans 1:16)
The Gospel is GOOD NEWS. It is the good news that God offers forgiveness of sins and eternal life in his Kingdom to all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. No matter who you are or what you have done, you may receive the free gift of salvation by believing that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for sinners, rose from the dead, and reigns as King over all heaven and earth. By trusting in Jesus, you may receive new life through the Holy Spirit and know God's love as your heavenly father.
In order to receive the gift of salvation, you must first acknowledge and confess your sin before God. There is only one true God, the God of the Bible. He created all things, and he gave you life. However, you (along with all people) were born a sinner and have lived a life of disobedience and rebellion to him. You have broken his holy commands, and deserve the penalty of everlasting judgment in Hell. Left to yourself, you are lost, without hope, and incapable of saving yourself through your own efforts.
However, because of God's purposes of grace, he sent Christ, into the world to save us from our sins. Jesus Christ is God the Son who took on flesh; born through the virgin Mary. He lived a life of perfect righteousness as he obeyed his Father's will on earth. Even though he had no sin, he paid the penalty for sin by shedding his blood; suffering and dying on the cross. He was buried in a tomb, but rose again to life on the third day! He was seen by his disciples and many witnesses, and then ascended to heaven. Today, Jesus reigns as King over all heaven and earth. He will one day return to put an end to all evil and glorify those he has saved.
You have a choice to make. You can continue to reject and ignore Jesus and the eternal life He offers. To do so means choosing to remain on the path to everlasting destruction. Or, you may call out to Jesus for salvation! Ask God to give you faith to believe in his Son. Ask for the Holy Spirit to change your heart and make you new. Admit your sin to Jesus and ask him to forgive you. Surrender your life to following Jesus, and receive the free gift of life everlasting!
